The Horse Flies formed in Ithaca, NY in the early 1980s and retired the band in 2016. They consistently explored an intersection of the old and new to create a musical world all their own. They blended Americana roots with indie rock, ethnic percussion, old-time American fiddle music, creative songwriting, and a fierce, percolating groove.
